Stenon’s team doing test measurements in Mato Grosso.

We are thrilled to announce that Stenon’s innovative soil analysis technology will soon be available in a new region! In September, we launched our soil calibration campaign in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Currently, Stenon is active in the São Paulo and Paraná regions, and we are excited that, upon completing the calibration in Mato Grosso, agribusinesses in the state will also gain access to our cutting-edge technology.

Our calibration campaigns are led by a dedicated team of experienced soil experts. They visit pre-selected fields and manually collect soil samples, which are then frozen and sent to both local Brazilian laboratories and several in Germany. Alongside the sampling, our specialists conduct real-time measurements using the FarmLab device. The selection of fields is carefully planned in advance to ensure we capture the full diversity of soil types and crops in the region.

Once collected, the results from the field measurements and lab analyses are thoroughly evaluated by our data science team, ensuring that the models behind our technology maintain the highest precision possible.

We will continue to share updates on the progress of the Mato Grosso calibration campaign, and we look forward to welcoming new partners from the region into Stenon’s ecosystem!

New showcase from from the Kazakhstan region!

Better fertilizer application strategy improves the quality of the yield.

Access to real-time soil data from any part of the field not only allows growers to optimize their fertilizer application but also improves overall crop quality. Our exclusive partner in Kazakhstan, Eurasia Group, highlights this in a recent Instagram video, where they compare the quality of corn from two different fields.

Both fields received the same irrigation, but the fertilizer strategy varied: one field used a fixed-rate application, while the other followed variable rates based on Stenon’s FarmLab measurements and recommendations via our Web-App. By applying fertilizers according to Stenon’s recommendations for different soil zones, the second field achieved superior nutrition and significantly better yield quality.

Success story from Brazil.

Mr.Bispo, manager of Bacelar Farm in Paraná, Brazil, shares his achievements from using Stenon’s technology.

We are excited to share how the customer of our partner in Parana, Lavoro Agro, improved his bean production. Faced with rising fertilizer costs, Mr. Bispo adopted Stenon’s innovative soil analysis technology, provided through Lavoro Agro, to optimize nitrogen application. The results were remarkable — he reduced nitrogen use by 15%, saved $740 USD (R$4.000), and increased his yield by 10%, leading to a potential profit of over $74,300 USD (R$405.130).

We are very glad that with our soil analysis and fertilization recommendation solution, Mr. Marcelo Bispo was able to cut down his costs on nitrogen fertilizer while achieving an even better yield. This is a perfect example of how technology can help farmers improve their operations and drive sustainability. This is especially important during tough times in the agricultural market. It’s a key factor in staying competitive, and when the market situation improves, agriculture businesses can benefit even further from our technology. The savings achieved can be reinvested in enhancing overall operations, such as purchasing premium fertilizers and more biological inputs.

Agricultural news spanning the globe.

In this collection of the reading tips we focus on the environmental impact of nitrogen fertilizers.

In the global push to reduce carbon emissions, nitrogen fertilizers have become a double-edged sword. While essential for crop growth, they significantly contribute to environmental pollution, particularly in Brazil, where excessive use poses a challenge. Research shows that emissions from fertilizers could be reduced by up to 80% by 2050 with more efficient practices. Moreover, fertilizers‘ impact on climate change is even greater than the entire global aviation and shipping industries combined.

Improving the efficiency of fertilizer usage is crucial, and with Stenon’s real-time soil analysis technology, farmers can precisely apply fertilizers, minimizing waste and environmental impact while maintaining productivity.
