Stenon News for Agriculture Experts – Q1 2026

As the new season begins, we would like to share the latest developments from across our global activities and also introduce an important change. Starting this year, we are moving from a monthly to a quarterly news format. This will allow us to bring you more substantial updates, deeper insights, and meaningful highlights in each edition while respecting how busy daily life in agriculture can be.

In this issue, we take you to Berlin, where together with the German Agribusiness Alliance, we joined international leaders to discuss one of agriculture’s most pressing challenges: sustainable resource management. We also share the latest improvements to the Stenon WebApp, including new export capabilities and further refinements to variable rate application and crop-specific recommendations.

From Brazil, we highlight a recent article by our CEO, Niels Grabbert, published in Notícias Agrícolas, where he explores why precision agriculture is becoming essential for profitability and sustainability in one of the world’s most important farming regions. Why Nitrogen Is Still the Most Expensive Guess in Farming

For decades, nitrogen has been one of the most powerful drivers of crop productivity. It fuels plant growth, supports protein formation, and directly influences yield potential. Few inputs have such a direct and measurable impact on farm performance.

And yet, despite its importance, nitrogen management in many parts of the world is still based largely on estimates.

Even today, as agriculture becomes increasingly digital, many fertilization decisions continue to rely on historical averages, regional recommendations, and intuition developed over years of experience. Satellite imagery, connected machinery, and farm management platforms are now widely available, but when it comes to nitrogen, guesswork often remains the foundation.

In an industry where margins are tight and input prices remain volatile, this reality has consequences. Quite simply, nitrogen has become one of the most expensive “guesses” in modern farming.

Last month, an important industry event took place in São Paulo: the World Agri-Tech Summit. One of the most insightful panel discussions at the summit was titled “Digital Agricultural Platforms: Getting Smart Farming Technologies into the Hands of Growers“.
